History

Oakdale's building was built in 2008 to temporarily hold Linganore High School because Linganore's original building was being renovated. In 2010, the school opened as Oakdale High School with only two grade levels - Ninth and Tenth. Currently, in the 2011-2012 school year, there are three grades, and in the following year OHS will have all four grades and its first graduating class.

Oakdale's first semester was rather dull, with little to no "student culture". Since then, the school has created daily morning announcement program, called the "Oakdale News Network", and a school newspaper called "The Paw Print". Oakdale's first school year concluded for students on June 14, 2011.

Dr. Seaton, the school's principle, said at an orientation that the school's rival is Tuscarora High School (also in Frederick County), along with Linganore High School and Urbana High School. All three are in close proximity to Oakdale, however, with little school history, a main rival cannot be determined yet.

Notable Achievements

Athletics

When OHS opened in 2010, there were a limited amount of sports played at the varsity level. Despite this, Oakdale's girl's soccer team was very successful during its first season, eventually winning the Maryland State 1A Championship game.
